David Barnes, 20 June 1978, North Carolina, USA. Raised in Mississippi and Tennessee, singer-songwriter Barnes showed an early interest in writing songs but was a reluctant performer. He became more confident while studying Recording Industry Management at Middle Tennessee State University, and after graduation embraced the live circuit with passion, basing himself in Nashville and quickly building up a cult following with his witty and passionate stage presence. Having built up a stockpile of original material, Barnes recorded the acoustic EP 3 4 at the start of 2002. Two tracks from the EP (Graces Amazing Hands and Nothing Fancy) were re-recorded in a full band format for the full-length Brother, Bring The Sun, released by the Columbia Records subsidiary Aware in 2004.
