Danielle Jane Minogue, 20 October 1971, Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. One of two famous Minogue sisters, Dannii actually became a star in her native country before elder sister Kylie Minogue, though the latter hit the world arena first. Dannii made her television debut at the age of seven in Skyways, and followed it with a string of television shows, including Young Talent Time, a showcase for new young acts, on which she first appeared in 1979; three years later, she became its host for the next six years. It was not all smooth running, though; twice the two sisters went for the same role, with Kylie coming out on top to land parts in The Sullivans and Neighbours. Meanwhile, in 1985, Dannii launched her recording career with an Australian-only cover version of Madonna’s ‘Material Girl’.
