A graduate of New York’s High School Of Music And Art, notable for being the first hip-hop star to offer his name to a fashion range or shop, which most major artists subsequently imitated, Dana Dane’s reputation was also built on a solid musical platform (generally provided by DJ Clark Kent) of hard East Coast rhythms and smooth production. His humorous quasi-British accent customised unusual, pop-orientated songs such as ‘Cinderella’, which became a huge crossover success. He has continued to release albums into the 90s, but has struggled to maintain the same level of success he achieved in the late 80s.
