Biography
Originally known as Disneyland After Dark, D.A.D. came together in Copenhagen, Denmark, in 1985. Comprising Jesper Binzer (vocals, guitar), Jacob A. Binzer (guitar), Stig Pedersen (bass) and Peter L. Jensen (drums), they combined cowpunk and high-energy metallic rock n roll with an irreverent sense of humour, reminiscent of Cheap Trick and ZZ Top at their playful best. After two entertaining and musically competent albums on the independent Mega label, they were signed by Warner Brothers Records in 1989 (reputedly for over $1, 000, 000) and marketed as their next big thing. Their energetic and eccentric live performances were highly impressive, with scenarios including exploding helmets and instruments, but they failed to generate similar intensity in the studio.
