18 January 1971, Beaumont, Texas, USA. Day was unsure which career he would follow; at one stage he wanted to be a footballer and then he studied computer technology at university. His grandmother encouraged him to form a band and became his biggest supporter, but she died before he found success. Day is yet another in a long line of good-looking American country singers who has been marketed to appeal to CMT viewers, but it is doubtful whether he has the talent to sustain a long career. As a review of Curtis Day in Country Music People said, ‘His vocal presence is non-existent, at times he sounds horribly flat, and at other times he makes some quite horrible noises. Not once does he exhibit any feeling.’
