Biography

The Netherlands’ premier blues band, Cuby And The Blizzards originated in the town of Grolloo and was founded when Harry ‘Cuby’ Muskee (vocals/harmonica) joined forces with Eelco Gelling (lead guitar). The group, also known as C+B, was later completed by Hans Kinds (guitar), Willy Middel (bass) and Dick Beekman (drums). Their debut single, ‘Stumble And Fall’ (1965), bore a debt to the Pretty Things, but successive releases, including ‘Your Body Is Not Your Soul’ and ‘Back Home A Man’, revealed a startling individuality. Gelling’s incisive style, which drew praise from John Mayall, was already evident on Desolation, while the group also completed the excellent Praise The Blues with veteran US pianist Eddie Boyd.
