The late 90s and early twenty-first century marked the emergence of an extreme form of heavy music, that combined the manic aggression of hardcore and metal, as well as the complexity of jazz fusion. The leaders of this noisy style included Dillinger Escape Plan, Fantômas, and especially, Converge. The Boston, Massachusetts, USA-based band has seen plenty of personnel come and go over the years since its formation in late 1990, but founding members Jacob Bannon (vocals) and Kurt Ballou (guitar) have been present through it all. Early members of the band included bass players Jeff Feinburg, Erik Ralston and Stephen Brodsky, and drummers Damon Bellorado and Jon DiGiorgio, while Aaron Dalbec played back-up guitar between 1994 and 2001.
