1985, Newbury Park, California, USA. Rising rapidly to prominence in 2007, this US singer-songwriter and guitarist matched the feats of many of her peers across the Atlantic in the UK by using the MySpace website to promote her music. The daughter of record producer Ken Caillat (who worked with Fleetwood Mac in their mid-70s to early 80s commercial heyday), Colbie was naturally surrounded by music from an early age and her parents encouraged her when she showed signs of wanting to pursue a music career. After a flirtation with dance music in the early 00s, she began pursuing a more acoustic-based direction with the help of musicians Mikal Blue and Jason Reeves. One of the tracks completed by the trio, a catchy little ditty called ‘Bubbly’, gained a massive amount of exposure online after it was uploaded to the MySpace site.
