Biography

4 January 1955, Ashton-Under-Lyne, Manchester, England. This highly respected singer-songwriter started his career as a member of Any Trouble before he embarked on an acclaimed partnership with Christine Collister. They announced a parting of the ways after seven years of performing and recording together. Gregson then performed with Richard Thompson and worked as a record producer. Throughout this time he continued to write and record subtly powerful songs, as highlighted on 1990’s Welcome To The Workhouse, with the pathos of Thompson and the humour of Billy Bragg. Gregson has also worked and toured with Boo Hewerdine, Eddi Reader and Plainsong. Gregson continues to release credible solo albums and like Thompson, is hugely talented, totally underrated and likely to remain a cult item only for those lucky enough to be aware of his fine catalogue of songs.
