c. 1963, Iota, Louisiana, USA. One of the leading praise and worship leaders in the USA, Brown is also a prolific recording artist and songwriter. After leaving school he initially worked as a mechanic on gas pipelines before taking to the road as a travelling musician and singer. He began his career in the church in his native Louisiana, but had soon relocated to Columbus, Ohio, to become music minister at Rod Parsley’s World Harvest Church. In 1993 he moved to Orlando, where, with a rapidly expanding congregation, he launched the Faithworld Church. Over time the church expanded to a paying congregation of over 6, 000 members, although Brown’s preaching of prosperity gospel raised a few eyebrows among other churches. By the mid-00s Brown was a rich man, but his finances were made public when a former congregation member raised a lawsuit to reclaim money, and his wife of over 20 years filed for divorce.
