Biography
One of a number of post-millennial bands to use the power of the Internet to promote their music, this Brooklyn, New York, USA-based quintet emerged in 2005 as one of the most hotly-tipped non-mainstream bands of the year. Alec Ounsworth, Lee Sargent, Robbie Guertin, Tyler Sargent and Sean Greenhalgh formed the rather clumsily titled Clap Your Hands Say Yeah at the start of the 00s. Their off-centre indie pop sound drew obvious influence from late 70s new wave bands such as the Modern Lovers and Talking Heads, with Ounsworths quirky vocals in particular bearing more than a passing resemblance to the latter outfits lead singer David Byrne.
