Biography
This atmospheric electro-goth band was formed in Nijmegen, the Netherlands, in 1983. The units name is taken from the English word zymotic (of fermentation) - It has no real significance, according to leader and vocalist Ronny Moorings. Joined by his girlfriend Anke Wolbert on bass and Pieter Nooten on keyboards, Moorings recorded and mixed Clan Of Xymoxs 1984 debut Subsequent Pleasures at home, and released the mini-album on his own label. After swapping a free record for entrance to a show pairing Dead Can Dance and the Cocteau Twins, the band eventually secured a contract with parent label 4AD Records. This led to the release of A Day and the album Clan Of Xymox, while the trio was augmented on stage by Frank Weyzig (guitar) and Willem van Antwerpen (drums).
