Biography
Taking their name from one of the towers in Lord Of The Rings, this gothic heavy metal outfit materialized in 1980. Formed in Ventura, California, USA, the band comprised ex-Titanic duo Jerry Fogle (guitar) and Robert Garven (drums), ex-roadie Tim Baker (vocals) and Greg Lindstrom (bass), the latter eventually replaced by Michael Flint. Characterized by high-pitched vocals and complex, at times cumbersome, arrangements, their style was highly introspective, or less kindly, morbid. Their Frost And Fire debut has been referred to by some commentators as The Worst Heavy Metal Album Of All Time. They did progress somewhat, improving song constructions and introducing up-tempo numbers to break the monotony. Nevertheless, success continued to elude them as they struggled to find an audience for their hopelessly outdated brand of fantasy metal.
