Gilliam Chynna Phillips, 12 February 1968, Los Angeles, California, USA. By the time Phillips’ solo career began in 1995 with Naked And Sacred for EMI Records, her name had already been established in the pages of countless popular culture magazines. In the first place, she was the daughter of John Phillips and Michelle Phillips of the Mamas And The Papas. She had then joined the briefly successful Wilson Phillips group (alongside the offspring of Brian Wilson of the Beach Boys) and she had recently married actor William Baldwin. Naked And Sacred stayed true to these pop credentials, with the employment of noted producers Rick Nowells and Billy Steinberg and songwriters such as Desmond Child, Eliot Wolf and Peter Lord and Jeffrey Smith of the Family Stand (the title track was also remixed for club audiences by David Morales).
