Biography
Chapel Hill, North Carolina, USA. Singer-songwriter, guitarist and producer Stamey first rose to prominence as a member of the Sneakers, a short-lived pop rock act which split up in 1976. Having become domiciled in New York, he was briefly associated with a unit fronted by erstwhile Box Tops member, Alex Chilton, who in turn produced Stameys solo debut single, The Summer Sun. The artist subsequently formed the dBs, who completed a series of excellent, melodic albums. However, despite critical approbation, the band was not a commercial success and Stamey left to resume his solo career during the 80s. A period involved with the Golden Palominos, an informal attraction loosely-based on available, like-minded musicians, punctuated his albums, but although not prolific, Stamey has continued to enjoy cult popularity.
