Cheryl Norton, 13 December 1958, Los Angeles, California, USA. This cousin of soul singer Pebbles is an accomplished drummer as well as a vocalist. She was discovered by her neighbour Michael Henderson, with whom she toured widely and appeared on his In The Night Time (1978). Five years later she made her solo debut with Fragile for Tabu, featuring the production team of Jimmy Jam And Terry Lewis. The album included two lynchpin tracks, I Didnt Mean To Turn You On (later a hit for Robert Palmer) and When I Look In Your Eyes. In 1985 she achieved her first hit, with Saturday Love, a duet with labelmate Alexander ONeal, hitting the UK Top 10, eventually provoking interest in her homeland the following year.
