Charlotte Maria Reed, 21 February 1986, Llandaff, Cardiff, South Glamorgan, Wales. Welsh soprano vocalist Charlotte Church made a noteworthy transition from child star to tabloid media icon in the space of a few short years. Raised in Cardiff by her mother and stepfather, Church signed a recording contract with Sony Classical at the age of 12 after being spotted performing an impromptu slot on the ITV channel’s The Big, Big Talent Show. She made her recording debut the same year with the transatlantic bestseller Voice Of An Angel, a collection of classical pieces, hymns and traditional material including ‘Danny Boy’ and ‘My Lagan Love’. The following year’s self-titled release included the UK hit single ‘Just Wave Hello’, a collaboration between the singer and the London Symphony Orchestra originally aired on a television advert for the Ford Motor Company.
