Cavalera Conspiracy

Decades: 2000s

This Brazilian thrash metal project marked the first time brothers Max Cavalera (Massimiliano Antonio Cavalera, 4 August 1969, Belo Horizonte, Brazil; vocals/guitar) and Igor Cavalera (b. 4 September 1970, Belo Horizonte, Brazil; guitar) had worked together in a studio since the original line-up of Sepultura imploded in December 1996. Ten years later, with the brothers having patched up their personal differences, they took time out from their respective bands to form Cavalera Conspiracy (originally known as Inflikted) with Marc Rizzo (b. 2 August 1977, Carlstadt, New Jersey, USA; guitar, also a member of Max Cavalera’s band Soulfly), and Joe Duplantier (bass, also with French death metal band Gojira). The 2008 album Inflikted was a welcome return to the intense groove metal direction of early Sepultura with a healthy dose of hardcore also present, while the renewed chemistry between the Cavaleras was glorious to behold.
