Catfish Haven

US indie rock trio formed in 2001 by George Hunter (Missouri, USA; guitar/vocals), Miguel Castillo (b. Chicago, USA; bass) and Ryan Farnham (b. Chicago, USA; drums). The name Catfish Haven was in reference to a rather depressing sounding trailer park of the same title where lead singer Hunter spent some of his formative years. His father was a welder, which accounted for the nomadic existence, although they did settle in Chicago where he met Castillo and Farnham. The trio bonded over a collected love of skateboarding, which progressed onto music as Castillo and Farnham were already immersed in the Chicago music scene. Catfish Haven was created at the start of the new millennium, and after a few months were touting a self-financed CD around. They were also gaining a real reputation for their raw live performances, which became a catalyst for an ever-growing fanbase.
