Biography

This Houston, Texas, USA-based Christian folk rock outfit takes its name from the ancient tale of Caedmon, who was blessed with the ability to write and sing songs by the grace of God. The band was formed in the summer of 1992 by Texas Christian University students, Cliff Young (guitar/vocals), Aaron Tate (guitar) and Danielle Glenn (vocals). Tate opted out of performing with the band at an early stage, but remained behind the scenes as an unofficial member and one of the band’s chief songwriters. The line-up coalesced around Young, Glenn, Derek Webb (lead guitar/vocals), Randy Holsapple (keyboards), Aric Nitzberg (bass), Todd Bragg (drums), and Garett Buell (percussion). Two independently released albums sold well, but more importantly the band established a reputation as one of the leading attractions on the college circuit.
