Biography

23 September 1949, Long Branch, New Jersey, USA. As the world’s greatest living rock ‘n’ roll star, Bruce Springsteen has unconsciously proved former Rolling Stone critic Jon Landau totally correct. Landau appeared smug and brave when he made the arrogant statement in 1974, ‘I saw rock ‘n’ roll future, and its name is Bruce Springsteen’.

Prior to that, Springsteen had paid his dues, playing in local bands around New Jersey, notably with the Castiles, Earth, Steel Mill and Dr Zoom And The Sonic Boom, before he settled as the Bruce Springsteen Band with David Sancious (b. 30 November 1953, Asbury Park, New Jersey, USA; keyboards), Gary Tallent (b. 27 October 1949, Detroit, Michigan, USA; bass), Clarence Clemons (b. 11 January 1942, Norfolk, Virginia, USA; saxophone/vocals), Danny Federici (b.
