Biography
Ricky Lee Phelps (Richard Lee Phelps, 8 October 1953, Edmonton, Kentucky, USA) sang and Doug Phelps (b. 15 December 1960, Edmonton, Kentucky, USA) played bass for the Kentucky Headhunters before forming the 90s country band Brother Phelps. They held a nationwide competition to find the name of the band, and finally chose Brother Phelps as a tribute to their late father, a preacher who was known to his congregation by this name. Their debut, Let Go, was surprisingly soft in its approach, while their version of J.J. Cales Any Way The Wind Blows was first-class. Were You Really Living is an admonition to the listener to live life to the full. Despite a strong follow-up, Any Way The Wind Blows, the duo disbanded, with Doug Phelps returning to the Kentucky Headhunters.
