Biography
US alt rock band formed in 2000 by Benjamin Burnley (10 March 1978, Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, USA; vocals/guitar), Aaron Fink (b. 22 April 1978, USA; guitar), Marcus James Klepaski (b. 11 September 1975, USA; bass), and Jeremy Hummel (drums). Fink and Klepaski were both previously members of alt metal band Lifer, while Fink had attended high school with Burnley in the bands home town of Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. The quartets self-titled debut EP was a local hit buoyed by heavy radio play of one of the tracks, Polyamorous. A major label recording contract with Hollywood Records followed, with the label no doubt hoping Breaking Benjamin could replicate the commercial success of the similarly styled Nickelback. The quartets debut Saturate, which was released in autumn 2002, was a competent modern rock album that settled on a middle ground between the aforementioned Nickelback and the aggressive rap rock of Korn.
