Biography
Named after the 1991 movie directed by John Singleton and starring Ice Cube, this southern rap quartet originates from Atlanta, Georgia, USA. The group was put together by Russell Block Spencer, CEO of Block Entertainment and co-founder of ShoNuff Records, with the express intention of bringing back the glory days of gangsta rap by creating the N.W.A. of the south. The four rappers he found for his project, Big Gee (Miguel Scott, Georgia, USA), Duke (b. Lee Dixon, Georgia, USA), Young Jeezy (b. Jay Jenkins, 28 September 1977, Columbia, South Carolina, USA) and Jacoby White (b. Jody Breeze, Georgia, USA), all agreed to work together while retaining their solo contracts. The winning track on the quartets mixtape was the hard-hitting gangsta rap anthem Dem Boyz, which impressed mogul P.
