Box Of Frogs were welcomed with widespread excitement in the UK press on their arrival in the early 80s by dint of their collective heritage. Jim McCarty (25 July 1943, Liverpool, Lancashire, England; drums), Paul Samwell-Smith (b. 8 May 1943, Richmond, Surrey, England; bass) and Chris Dreja (b. 11 November 1945, Surbiton, Surrey, England; guitar) had all previously been founding members of the Yardbirds. The fourth member, vocalist John Fiddler, had been recruited from Medicine Head. Box Of Frogs released its debut album for Epic Records in 1984. Box Of Frogs saw them reprise the spirit of energized R&B for which the Yardbirds had been renowned, though the quality of the songwriting barely hinted at a For Your Love or Heart Full Of Soul.
