Biography
Formed in 1983 in Minneapolis, USA, the members describe themselves as a Celto-deltic-surf-world n reel band. The original line-up comprised Drew Miller (bass), Jane Dauphin (guitar, vocals), Brian Fox (fiddle) and a drum machine (affectionately known as Amos Box), but the latter two were quickly replaced by Dave Stenshoel (fiddle) and Mitch Griffin (drums). This line-up played Celtic folk songs in a punk and garage rock style, and released a debut album on their own label. Todd Menton (guitar, vocals) had joined the band by the time they recorded the acclaimed Hotheads. By 1988, Dauphin and Griffin had departed, and world music had superseded folk in the bands repertoire. Robin Adnan Anders (drums/percussion) was recruited in an attempt to bring more acoustic elements into the arrangements, but the rock factor remained more extreme.
