Biography
Bobby Taylor (Robert Taylor; lead vocals), Tommy Chong (b. Thomas B. Kin Chong, 24 May 1938, Edmonton, Alberta, Canada; guitar/vocals), Eddie Patterson (guitar), Wes Henderson (bass), Robbie King (keyboards) and Ted Lewis (drums) joined forces in Vancouver, Canada in the mid-60s. Originally known as Little Daddy And The Bachelors, they were signed to Motown Records in 1967 and supported Gladys Knight And The Pips on a US tour. The following year, they issued their debut single, Does Your Mama Know About Me, an emotive ballad with a lyric that capitalized on the bands inter-racial make-up. The single reached the US Top 30, and was succeeded by two smaller hits, I Am Your Man and Malinda. After issuing an eponymous debut album, the Vancouvers split.
