c.1970, Tulsa, Oklahoma, USA. Raised in a religious home in a rural community in Texas, it was some time before Pinson began to consider music as a way of life. After leaving college he served in the US Army and it was at this time that he began to play the guitar. An early interest in literature led him to a deep appreciation of song lyrics, especially those of Shel Silverstein . He pursued this interest avidly, developing eventually into a gifted and literate songwriter. In 1995, while living in northern California, he met songwriters Larry Boone and Paul Nelson who encouraged him. The following year he moved to Nashville, Tennessee, supporting himself outside music until the end of the century, meanwhile learning the craft of songwriting. It was with Boone and Nelson that he wrote Unforgiven, recorded in 1999 by Tracy Lawrence .
