Biography
A popular bluegrass group that was formed in Los Angeles in 1974 by Don Parmley (19 October 1933, Monticello, Kentucky, USA; banjo, vocals), who had become engrossed in bluegrass music since he first heard Earl Scruggs playing with Bill Monroe and his 15-year-old son David (b. 2 February 1959, Alameda, California, USA; guitar, vocals). (Parmley had already played with other groups in the Los Angeles area, including the Hillmen.) Unlike the Parmleys, the other original members of the Cardinals all came from non-rural backgrounds. They were Randy Graham (b. Los Angeles, California, USA; mandolin, tenor vocals), Bill Bryson (bass, lead vocals) and Dennis Fetchet (fiddle), the latter pair also from the Los Angeles area.
