Biography
Named after the brutal Western novel by Cormac McCarthy, Blood Meridian comprises Matthew Camirand (Ontario, Canada; vocals/guitar), Jeff Lee (guitar), Kevin Grant (bass), Shira Blustein (keyboards) and Joshua Wells (drums). Camirand formed this alt country outfit as a solo project while still playing bass guitar with the Black Halos, writing songs in hotel rooms while on tour. With music more suited to a whisky-swilling gothic deep south America than Vancouver, Blood Meridian deliver a distinctively morose sound, reminiscent of country legends such as Johnny Cash. After signing to Teenage USA Records, Blood Meridian released their debut, We Almost Made It Home, in February 2005.
