Biography

Based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, this US psychedelic pop band was formed in 1996 by high school student Tobacco (Tom Fec). The line-up went through a number of changes before cohering around a cast of curiously named characters, namely the Seven Fields Of Aphelion (b. Maureen Boyle), Father Hummingburd (b. Seth Ciotti), Power Pill Fist (b. Ken Fec), and IFfernaut (b. Donna Kyler). The quintet set out their modus operandi on their 2003 debut Falling Through A Field, using vintage analogue and electronic instruments and occasional, heavily vocoded vocals to create a hazy, nostalgic sound akin to experimental rock bands from the late 60s and early 70s.
