Biography
William Wendell Gilman, 24 May 1988, Westerly, Rhode Island, USA. The youngest artist ever to have a US hit country single, Gilmans precocious talent rivaled that of other young acts to emerge at the start of the 00s, including pop singer Aaron Carter, classical soprano Charlotte Church, and rapper Lil Bow Wow. Gilman began singing at the age of seven, made his first public appearance a year later, and was soon playing regular opening slots at country fairs. He was signed by Epic Nashville after they heard the demo tape he recorded with Ray Benson of veteran swing act Asleep At The Wheel. His 2000 debut album One Voice, recorded with writer/producers David Malloy, Don Cook and Blake Chancey, demonstrated Gilmans undoubted natural ability, but like Carter his talent was restricted by his producers selection of songs.
