Biography

William Thomas Medley, 19 September 1940, Santa Ana, California, USA. After several successful years with the Righteous Brothers, Medley embarked on a solo career with MGM Records in late 1967. Several relatively barren years followed, until Medley received a major push from A&M Records in 1971. Again, no hits were forthcoming, and in 1974, the Righteous Brothers reunited and scored a US Top 3 hit with the maudlin ‘Rock And Roll Heaven’. Medley’s second attempt at a solo career took place in 1981, five years after the mysterious murder of his wife Karen. This time he enjoyed some minor hits, which reached fruition during the second half of the 80s with his contribution to the movie Dirty Dancing. Collaborating with Jennifer Warnes, Medley found the perfect song in ‘(I’ve Had) The Time Of My Life’, which reached number 1 in the US charts in 1987.
