Biography

10 September 1952, Ypsilanti, Michigan, USA. Raised in a suburb of Detroit, Morrison sang as a child, mostly in church. Success in a talent contest was rewarded with a scholarship to Eastern Michigan University. She continued to sing, gaining confidence with maturity and in 1973 moved to Southern California, teaming up with Eddie ‘Cleanhead’ Vinson with whose band she remained for a few years. Later, she toured the USA and Europe and also recorded with R&B legend Johnny Otis. In 1987 Morrison went solo, dividing her time between Los Angeles and Europe, where she developed a following thanks in part to her recordings made for the company owned by German jazz drummer Thilo Berg. In the mid-90s she was continuing this roving career, attracting the attention of a growing number of fans who include singer Dionne Warwick.
