Biography
Formed in England during 1975, Back Street Crawler took its name from founder Paul Kossoffs (14 September 1950, Hampstead, London, England, d. 19 March 1976) solo album. The ex-Free guitarist was joined by Terry Wilson-Slessor (vocals), Michael Montgomery (keyboards), Terry Wilson (bass) and Tony Braunagel (drums), but concerts in support of The Band Plays On were cancelled when the groups leader was hospitalized after a drugs-related seizure. An American tour offered new-found hope, but this optimism was shattered on 19 March 1976 when Kossoff died in his sleep. The band truncated its name to Crawler following the release of Second Street.
