Biography
Part hardcore and part thrash metal, the Richmond, Virginia, USA-based Avail has been releasing hard-hitting albums since the early 90s. Originally formed by Joe Banks (guitar), Tim Barry (drums), and extra member Beau Beau (often credited as the bands dancer), during the late 80s in Washington, DC, Avail did not truly get going until its members relocated to Richmond in 1990. They signed a recording contract with the west coast punk label Lookout! Records, that saw Barry switch to lead vocals and the emergence of new members Gwomper (bass) and Erik Larson (drums). A string of acclaimed releases followed. However, Avail opted to change record companies in the twenty-first century and issued two subsequent releases (One Wrench and Front Porch Stories) on Fat Wreck Chords.
