Biography

Drummer/vocalist Chris Reifert formed this US death metal act with guitarists Danny Coralles and Eric Cutler in Florida, after his involvement with Death on their 1987 debut, Scream Bloody Gore. Sadus bass player Steve DiGiorgio (7 November 1967, Waukegan, Illinois, USA) guested on 1989’s full-length debut Severed Survival before Ken Sovari was recruited for a European tour with Bolt Thrower and Pestilence; he was then replaced by Cutler’s brother, Steve. The 1990 EP The Retribution For The Dead and the following year’s Mental Funeral saw Autopsy continue in their sludgy death vein with gore-laden lyrics. The 1991 EP Fiend For Blood again featured DiGiorgio, before Josh Barohn (ex-Suffocation) was recruited as bass player.
