Biography
From Chicago, Illinois, USA, the highly politicized hardcore punk band Articles Of Faith (previously known as Direct Drive) originally comprised Vic Bondi (vocals/guitar), Dave Shield (bass), Bill aka Virus X (drums) and Joe Scuderi (guitar). Dorian Taskbasksh was added as second guitarist in 1983, and the line-up also included musicians such as Pat Grueber, Steve Ross and Jon Smith at various times. Bondi, however, was very much the focal point, an articulate presence who also wrote columns for the fanzine Maximum Rock n Roll, and, by the time of the bands demise, he had become a history lecturer at the University of Massachusetts. Following two EPs, Articles Of Faiths debut album was produced by Hüsker Düs Bob Mould, and remains one of the most thoughtful and incisive documents in the development of hardcore, with Bondis astute lyrics matching the bands instrumental skill.
