Biography
Arnaldo Augusto Nora Antunes, 2 September 1960, São Paulo, Brazil. Antunes studied at the Colégio Equipe where he showed marked abilities as a musician, composer and writer. He worked on several multi-media projects, including one with Banda Performática, which was recorded in 1980 and for which he and Paulo Miklos composed a prize-winning song. He and Miklos formed a new band, Titãs, with which they recorded in 1984. Alongside his other activities he made experimental films but his career was jolted off track in 1985 when he was sentenced on drugs charges. The band recorded again and also appeared to great acclaim at Rio De Janeiros Hollywood Rock Festival in 1988. Their success here led directly to an invitation to appear at 1989s Montreux Jazz Festival.
