Biography
Led by singer-songwriter and guitarist Dave Heumann, this Baltimore, Maryland, USA-based band was conceived as a solo recording project in 2002. Heumann was an established figure on the US indie and alt country scenes owing to his involvement with artists such as Bonnie Prince Billy, Papa M, Cass McCombs, and Anomoanon. Arbouretums low-key debut, Long Live The Well-Doer, featured additional musicians including drummer David Bergander, guitarist Ned Oldham (the leader of Anomoanon), multi-instrumentalist Walker David Teret, and guitarist Rob Girardi. The album was released in 2004 on the Anomoanon label Box Tree Records and earned critical comparisons to the lo-fi musings pursued by Will Oldham in his various guises (most notably Bonnie Prince Billy).
