13 August 1973, Monroe, Louisiana, USA. As an adolescent, Griggs played sports, while his brother, Mason, had a country music band. Mason died in 1991 and Andy found himself drawn to his music in order to be close to his memory. He discovered an ability of his own and he took over his brothers band and also sang with a gospel group. His fiancée, Stephanie Sullivan, encouraged him to move to Nashville. The newly-married couple took low-paid jobs in the town, but Griggs was groomed for chart success by manager, J. Gary Smith and producer, David Malloy. Griggs co-wrote four songs on his 1999 debut You Wont Ever Be Lonely, which features the hit title track and Shine On Me, the latter a duet with Waylon Jennings. Much more satisfying and successful was his major breakthrough album Freedom which put the artist firmly in the spotlight as a potential major talent. It was confirmed with the release of This I Gotta See in 2004.
