Biography

Memphis, Tennessee, USA. The 90s country singer Andy Childs was raised in Memphis but was drawn more to the country sounds of Nashville. He played in small Memphis clubs and then built up his experience in state fairs and theme parks. He regularly went to Nashville but he was determined not to be a ‘hat’ act. His singles, ‘I Wouldn’t Know’ and ‘Broken’, were only moderately successful.

In the new millennium Childs joined Sixwire. The band comprises noted Nashville musicians Steve Mandile (guitar/vocals), Robb Houston (guitar/vocals), John Howard (bass), and Chuck Tilley (drums). They signed to Warner Brothers Records and released their self titled album in 2002.

He is not the same former rock journalist Andy Childs who used to write for Zig Zag and is now press officer at Rykodisk UK.
