25 August 1987, Glasgow, Scotland. This singer-songwriter was still only in her teens when her debut album charted high in the UK charts in 2007. After learning the guitar at an early age, the precocious Macdonald had already begun writing songs by the time she started attending secondary school in her native Glasgow. She was still at school when she started performing acoustic gigs around the city, but proved more than competent up on stage. As word got round the music industry about the shy young Scottish girl with a big voice and country-influenced guitar playing, the major labels began to attend her gigs and in 2006 she signed a recording contract with Vertigo Records. Her debut, This Is The Life, was released in July 2007. Although at times betraying her youth, the songwriting on the album certainly revealed a burgeoning talent, with her preference for guitar-led roots rock and folk-styled story lyrics marking Macdonald out from many of her contemporaries....
