Biography
A Swedish melodic death metal band from Tumba, a suburb of Stockholm, Amon Amarth (whose name was lifted from J.R.R. Tolkiens book The Lord Of The Rings, like Burzum, Morgoth and Minas Morgul with them) formed in 1992. Although their music stands firmly at the forefront of the new Swedish school of death metal, there are plenty of black metal elements in the vocals, while the lyrics revolve around Enslaved -style Viking themes. The founder members were Johan Hegg (29 April 1973, Botkyrka, Sweden; vocals), Olavi Mikkonen (b. 25 August 1973, Botkyrka, Sweden; guitar), Ted Lundström (b. 16 April 1974, Botkyrka, Sweden; bass), Anders Hansson (guitar) and Nico Kaukinen (drums).
