Biography
This US teen pop duo comprises sisters Aly (Alyson Renae Michalka, 25 March 1989, Torrance, California, USA) and AJ (b. Amanda Joy Michalka, 10 April 1991, Torrance, California, USA). Raised in Seattle, Washington, the sisters followed the route of other wannabe young stars with a crash course in singing, playing guitar and piano, acting and modelling. After returning to California with their family, the duo began to land individual roles in television shows including General Hospital, Oliver Beene, and Six Feet Under (AJ), and Phil Of The Future (Aly). They reprised their childhood singing duo for Aly’s cover version of the Lovin’ Spoonful’s ‘Do You Believe In Magic’, which featured prominently on the soundtrack of the Disney Channel movie Now You See It … The success of the track, which enjoyed extensive play on Radio Disney and via file sharing websites, led to a contract with the Disney-funded Hollywood Records label.
