This US band were heavy metal exponents in the Deep Purple tradition. Formed by ex-MSG and Rainbow vocalist Graham Bonnet (12 December 1947, Skegness, Lincolnshire, England) in 1983, the initial line-up featured virtuoso guitarist Yngwie Malmsteen (b. Lars Johann Yngwie Lannerback, 30 June 1963, Stockholm, Sweden), former New England members Jimmy Waldo (keyboards) and Gary Shea (bass), plus former Alice Cooper drummer Jan Uvena. No Parole From Rock N Roll was chest-thumping hard rock in the David Coverdale / Ronnie James Dio style, complete with intricately textured and classically influenced guitar breaks. Steve Vai (b. Steven Siro Vai, 6 June 1960, Carle Place, New York, USA; ex-Frank Zappa) replaced Malmsteen after a disappointing live album to record 1985s Disturbing The Peace.
