Biography

28 June 1952, New Jersey, USA. Pasqua began playing piano at the age of seven. Although his studies covered both classical and jazz, it was to the latter that he gravitated during advanced education at Indiana University and The New England Conservatory of Music near Boston. Among his tutors at this time were several important figures in jazz education: Jaki Byard, Thad Jones, George Russell and Gunther Schuller. In the mid-70s, Pasqua became a member of a new edition of Tony Williams’ fusion band Lifetime, appearing on Believe It and Million Dollar Legs. From the late 70s, on through subsequent decades, Pasqua has played with many noted figures in the jazz world, among them several whose advanced thinking and playing were highly compatible with the pianist’s own ideas.
