This Portland, Oregon-based indie rock duo comprises husband and wife Kevin Robinson (Alabama, USA; drums/vocals) and Anita Robinson (b. Alabama, USA; guitar/vocals). The couple met in Alabama in 1998, soon after they began dating and recording music together. As their demos progressed, record companies began to take notice and they were signed up to Cadence Records to record a debut album. The result was the largely forgotten Hooray For Now, released in 1998. Unfortunately Cadence went out of business soon after, leaving the Robinsons without a label.

After a period away from music, Viva Voce began recording what would be presented as their first album proper in 2001. Lovers, Lead The Way! was written produced and recorded by the duo in their home and released on their label Amore!Phonics in partnership with Asthmatic Kitty in 2003.
