Biography
Varnaline is essentially the work of one man - singer-songwriter and guitarist Anders Parker (USA). In fact, Varnaline happened largely by accident, as Parker told Billboard in 1997: I recorded the first album before I had any [label] interest at all. I was writing some things for another project, and some other things for myself, and I discovered that I liked the things I had done for myself much better. The resulting songs were picked up by Zero Hour Records and released as a self-titled collection in 1996. In the interim, Parker, who was also a concurrent member of Zero Hour act Space Needle, recruited his brother John Parker and Space Needles Jud Ehrbar to complete the line-up of Varnaline for touring purposes. The trio were rewarded with a slot on the 1996 Lollapalooza tour, and then issued a 7-inch single (Party Now) and a four-track home-recorded EP, Man Of Sin.
