Biography
Tristan Charles Honsinger, 23 October 1949, Burlington, Vermont, USA. Taking up the cello at an early age, by the time that Honsinger was 12 he was giving weekly public recitals. He studied classical cello at the New England Conservatory in Boston, Massachusetts. When he was 20, in common with many other young men of his age group during the Vietnam war, he moved to Canada, taking up residence in Montreal. It was at this time that he developed an interest in contemporary improvised music. Towards the end of the 70s he moved to Europe, working in various countries and becoming well known among the European avant garde. Based for several years in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, Honsinger built an entertaining stage act which calls upon not only his considerable musical abilities but also for a measure of exuberant theatricality.
